The first step to upload a publication to SPARK is gathering the following information:
Published Works: Know your Publishers Policies
If an article is already published elsewhere, our policy is to check for self-archiving rights with the journal/publisher of their article. Check the journal website or search for a specific journal and/or its publishing policies. If it is an open access journal check in Sherpa/Romeo. We are happy to help ascertain what link or citation to include, just email spark@bethel.edu.
Unpublished Works: Add a Creative Commons License First
Alternatively, for unpublished works, adding your own Creative Commons Licensing is encouraged. A tool for choosing a CC License is: https://chooser-beta.creativecommons.org/ Many publishers require placing a CC BY NC ND or other type of license on an already published work, when self-archiving in an institutional repository like Bethel's SPARK.
