RefWorks (Citation Manager)

How to Import References from Databases

LibSearch 

  • On the search results screen, select the blue pin(s) next to the citation(s) you want 
  • Click on the pin icon at the top right of the page
  • Click the box by "# items"
  • Click the three horizontal dots
  • Click on RefWorks
  • RefWorks will open in a new window
  • Click Import

EBSCO databases

Academic Search Premier, ATLA Religion Database, Business Source Premier, CINAHL, Communication & Mass Media Complete, EBSCOhost eBook Collection, ERIC, PsycINFO

  • On the search results screen, check the box(es) next to the citation(s) you want
  • Click on the quotation mark icon
  • Choose Export Citation
  • Click on Export to RefWorks
  • RefWorks will open in a new window
  • Click Import

Google Scholar

  • In Google Scholar, click on the 3 lines in the upper left corner
  • Click on Settings
  • Under Bibliography Manager, choose Show links to import citations into
  • From the drop-down menu, select RefWorks
  • Click Save
  • When searching in Google Scholar, Import to RefWorks will now appear at the bottom of the citation. Click the link to send it to RefWorks.
  • To send more than 1 citation at a time, create a reading list. Use CSV to export the file and import into RefWorks.

Proquest databases

ProQuest Education Journals, ProQuest One Business, ProQuest Psychology Journals, ProQuest Social Sciences, ProQuest US Newsstream, Social Services Abstracts, Sports Medicine & Education Index

  • On the search results screen, check the box(es) next to the citation(s) you want
  • Click on the quotation mark icon
  • Under Export to a citation manager or file, click RefWorks  
  • Click Continue
  • RefWorks will open in a new window
  • Click Import

JSTOR

  • On the search results screen, check the box(es) next to the citation(s) you want
  • Click Cite
  • Click Export to RefWorks
  • RefWorks will open in a new window
  • Click Import

Project Muse

  • On the search results screen, click on Save beneath the citation(s) you want
  • Click MyMUSE Library
  • Click Cite Library Items under MyMUSE Library in the left column
  • Click Select All
  • Click Export to RefWorks
  • RefWorks will open in a new window
  • Click Import
