Finding Scholarly Articles

Some suggested databases for finding scholarly articles. A full list can be found on the Library homepage under Search Databases.

Getting the most out of JSTOR

JSTOR is a good place to find full text peer reviewed (AKA “scholarly,” “academic”) articles on a wide variety of subjects. Here is how to search it most effectively:

  1. Click on the Advanced Search option from the initial search screen
  2. Under Item Type, click on the "articles" box--this weeds out book reviews, letters, etc. from your results
  3. Under Journal Filter, select 1 or 2 relevant subjects among those listed, such as "history" and "religion"
