Bethel Seminary St. Paul Library : A Brief Guide for Seminary Students

About the Library

The Carl H. Lundquist Library in St. Paul consists of more than 120,000 books; about 3,000 print periodical titles; over 50,000 online journal titles; and over 200,000 ebooks. Special collections include the Nelson-Lundquist devotional books, the Klingberg Puritan Collection, the Skarstedt collection of evangelical pietism, the Bethel University archives, and the Baptist General Conference History Center.

Obtaining Library Materials

You may request books and journals articles that are not available online. Seminary students are eligible for mailing services regardless of where they live.

  • To find out if the library owns a specific book, search CLICsearch.
    • If the book is available at a Bethel Library, use the Request from a Bethel Library link to place a request. You may select any Bethel library as the pickup location or you may request Personal Delivery to your home address.
    • If the book is available at another CLIC library, use the Request from a CLIC Library link to place a request. You may select any Bethel library as the pickup location or you may request delivery to your home address.
    • If you have any difficulty requesting a book in CLICsearch, contact a Reference Librarian for assistance.
  • To request books not available in a CLIC library, place a request through ILLiad.
  • To find out if the library has a specific journal, check the Journal List.
  • To request any journal articles that are not available online, please use the appropriate ILLiad request form. In most cases, articles will be delivered as PDF files.

Mailing Policy for Library Materials

The mailing policy for library materials can be found at http://www.bethel.edu/library/services/distance. The library covers the cost of mailing material to students. The student is responsible for the cost of return postage. Books may be mailed using Library Rate.

Borrowing Information

Circulation periods:

            Books:  120 days

            CDs/DVDs:  7 days

            Periodicals:  Non-circulating

            Reference materials:  Non-circulating

Fines:

            Billed material:  $65/item

Failure to receive an overdue notice does not exempt you from fines charged.

Requests:

If an item is currently checked out, you may request to have it held for you when it is returned using CLICsearch. You will be notified when the item is returned.
