Open Access Policies at Other Colleges and Universities

The Internet can accelerate discovery, democratize access, and enable new strategies to address complex research challenges. To take advantage of these opportunities and to further their mission of creating, preserving, and disseminating knowledge, many academic institutions are taking steps to capture the benefits of Open Access by developing campus policies for the timely, free, online dissemination of institutional research outputs. Open Access Policies of Major Funding Bodies

NIH Public Access Policy
The Policy requires scientists to submit final peer-reviewed journal manuscripts that arise from NIH funds to the digital archive PubMed Central upon acceptance for publication. To help advance science and improve human health, the Policy requires that these papers are accessible to the public on PubMed Central no later than 12 months after publication.
NSF Data Sharing Policy
Investigators are expected to share with other researchers, at no more than incremental cost and within a reasonable time, the primary data, samples, physical collections and other supporting materials created or gathered in the course of work under National Science Foundation grants.
Wellcome Trust Open Access Policy
It is a fundamental part of our charitable mission to ensure that the work we fund can be read and utilised by the widest possible audience. We therefore support unrestricted access to the published outputs of research through our open access policy.
